William Russell Doherty

No one ever told me that being a mom was going to feel this way... So much love, emotion, frustration, no sleep, lots of wet and poopy diapers, baby throw up, changing of clothes, and so much more, but so worth every moment.

Our little guy decided he stayed long enough in mommy's belly and he wanted out to meet his mommy and daddy.  I wasn't due until 8-12-13, but he wanted his birthday to be 7-27-13.  Just a little over 2 weeks early! He topped the scales weighing in at just 5 lbs 14 oz. and just under 18 inches long, he was born at 9:02 p.m.

Williams birth story is a little wild so here it is.

As you all know this was my first pregnancy, and it went with out any complications, other than the nausea, hogging the bed at night with all my pillows, fat, swollen feet near the end, oh and we must not forget about the constipation issue.

Alright so I was always concerned that I would not be able to tell when I was in labor, or questioned wither or not I would know that I was having contractions. Everyone that I ever talked to said that I would know when I would start.  Well little did everyone know I had no idea what was going on when I had actually begun laboring.

Saturday 7-27-13, I had just gotten off the phone talking with my sister Janae, about what items would be good to pack and take with us to the hospital when we actually went to have the baby, I think we also talked some about what contractions would feel like and again asked if I would know! I got off the phone with her just after 4:00 p.m. and felt some fluid leaking from down yonder, it was not a lot of fluid in fact it felt like I had peeed my pants, but I had never done that before.  So I ignored that feeling, and went outside to water my orchard, and then it happened again, and then I started to wonder what is going on.  I then came back inside took a shower and again more trickles of fluid.

Mind you I am home alone when this all started, as my husband had to make a quick trip to McCall, when he had left that he told me not to have a baby today, and that he would probably be home around 5:30.  I get out of the shower and place a towel on the floor in case more fluid were to come,  as I am getting dressed and coming out my hair.  Ben finally calls and says he is on his way home, however this was about 5:30 and he was just leaving McCall which is about an hour and a half away from our new home in Horseshoe Bend.  I must have had a concerned voice over the phone as I said you are just know leaving McCall.  Ben said yes why whats going on, I told him that I started leaking fluid and that I was not sure what was happening, I had not yet started contractions or any pain yet.  I decided it was probably time to contact the Dr. and let them know what was happening and what I should do, because it was the weekend there was the on call physician so I had to wait for her to call me back, She called just before 6:00 and told me that I should probably head on into the hospital.  So here I am all alone in Horsehoe Bend with a 30-40 minute drive to the hospital.  I decided it probably was not a good idea to drive my self to the hospital, with Ben only being an hour and a half a way I decided I would probably have plenty of time as with first pregnancy labors they say can take anywhere from 8-14 hours.  Since I had only had a few contractions at this point I figured I could wait until Ben arrived home.

None of our bags were packed so I was running around getting everything I thought we would need and since I had just made a list of things with my sister over the phone I had a pretty good idea what to grab.  I grabbed lots of stuff and everything for Ben including his contact case and solution, the lab top and clothes for him the only thing I forgot was clean undies for him to change into.  Alright so with all the bags packed and waiting for Bens arrival.  The contractions were starting to come more often. I started keeping track of contractions and writing down what time they would start and for how long the contraction was lasting for.  All of my contractions were in my lower back and quite honestly did not hurt all the bad.  I kept track of contractions for a good hour and they were getting more closer together and lasting a little bit longer.

Finally Ben made it home just past 7:00 p.m. he had the trailer and four wheelers that were hooked up to the truck with other things that needed to be unloaded from the truck.  He came inside and asked if we were going to have a baby today, I sill wasn't completely sure that we would be having a baby, my due date was still 2 weeks away.  Ben asked if he could take a shower and I told him that he better hurry because we still had a little bit of a drive with horseshoe bend hill and all.  He was finally ready and we were off to the hospital!

I think the drive made my contractions a little worse, contractions were still all in my back and they were for sure getting stronger and closer together. It was pretty funny in between each contraction i was able to hold a conversation and be normal but as soon as a contraction would come I could not say a thing but to concentrate on getting through the contraction.

We finally make it to the hospital, Ben drops me off while he goes to park the truck.  I walk in get all checked in, the hospital staff was anticipating my arrival.  i get changed into the hospital gown.  'They left us in the room what felt like forever before they came back.  I remember looking at the clock at 8:15 p.m. just shortly after I had changed.  The nurse finally made it back to my room and had asked me if I would like an epidural, I had told her yes, she asked how soon I would like it, I told her as soon as I could get it.  She then did a test to see if my water had broken and sure enough it was positive.  She then went to check me to see how far dilated I actually was, i think the time at this point was probably 8:30 p.m.  She told me that I was already dilated to 10cm and 100% effaced.  I remember say what really why am I going so fast?  The nurse said that a lot of things are going to be happening and they are going to happen pretty quick, lots of people would be in.  She told me there was no time for the epidural.  they had to get the standby doctor in the room just in case I was ready to push, as they could not get a hold of the actual doctor as she was occupied with another patient. I don't recall the standby doctors name but he was explaining how to push a baby out and what it would feel like.

They finally got a hold of the other doctor I think her name is Dr. Bradford, she arrived just in time for me to push about 4 times and the little baby William came into this world.

What an amazing experience, to have given birth to this beautiful baby boy and what a blessing it was that my labor really only lasted about 4 1/2 hours. Thank goodness we made it to the hospital just in time. I am very thankful for my husband for what a wonerful man he is.

here are some adorable pictures for your veiweing! William looks exactley like his dad! Well for now he does it will be interesting watching this little man grow and to see his little personality develop.

Seeking advice!!

So I never new how hard it would be to complete simple tasks while pregnant. So I am asking for advice or any tricks you mothers know of how to make simple tasks a little easier while pregnant.

1. Shaving your legs. I usually end up wating a whole month before I really have to shave my legs, by then my legs are pretty bad. So far ive just filled up the bathtub and sit on the edge and just do the best that I can. Plus its just going to get harder once my belly/baby gets even bigger.

2. Finding a comfortable way to sleep. Ive shoved pillows under my back. Then my back starts to hurt. If I lay on my side it feels like my belly is being pulled to that side. Any good ideas of getting a good night sleep?

3. Not clogging the toilet. Its a daily chore of mine to grab the toilet plugger after every time I go. Not sure if its the food I am eating or the meds that I am on. I am still taking my Zofran for nausea and of course the pre-natal vitamin. I bet I could go with out the Zofran but am affraid if I don't take it I will feel crappy. So I just take it as a percaution.

If any of you have any other suggestions, that will make life a little easier during pregnancy, I will glady accept them.

Thanks for your HELP!!

here are some growing belly photos.

A baby in the making!!!

Thats right you read it correctly!! Ben and I are expecting our first baby in August. It might be one hot summer!! Ben and I are very excited and can't hardley wait to meet this little person who has made me super sick during the first trimester.

Around 6 weeks I started feeling pregnancy symptoms, morning sickness or more like any time of day sickness and not knowing when it might hit me or where I was going to be. It was very difficult to go to work and just to make it through the day. But Hopefully I am past the not feeling well part, and hopefully I can start enjoying my first pregnancy a little bit more.

I am currently 19 weeks and 1 day today! I started feeling baby move and kick at the end of 16 weeks. I wasnt exactley sure that a baby kick was what I was feeling but have since felt it more often and have confirmed that that is what I had been feeling. The feeling of a baby move inside of you is pretty amazing. For the first time today my husband was able to enjoy and feel the baby kick, pretty exciting!!

Those of you who know me well, I don't do well with motion, I get super sick on any type of boat, long windy car rides, fair rides and yes even some Disney Land rides make me ill. So I have felt some big baby movements where the baby will roll into a complete new position where I have to stop and breath through as it kind of knocks me off balance and can make me feel ill at times. I love being able to feel my sweet litte baby move and roll around it assures me that everything is okay!!

I hope to be more diligant and updating everyone with my progress as my pregnancy continues. I don't have any belly photos of my self, I have a little belly bump but not much! But I do have some Ultrasound pictures of my SWEET baby BOY!!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Well I hope everyone had a fun Christmas this year and got everything they were hoping for for Christmas. This year, Christmas seemed to come and go by so fast I wasn't even able to get my Christmas tree up for the festivities. If you remember from last year I have a HUGE 12 foot pre lit tree and it always looks spectacular. However this year was different for some reason I just never got around to putting the darn thing up. Probably because I felt like I was working all the time and never really felt I had the time to put it all up!! I was on call all day Christmas day. Yeah it was not that fun BUT I did make a lot of EXTRA money!! So it was somewhat worth it, I suppose.

HAPPY NEW YEAR too!! Hope everyone had fun partying it up for the new year to come!! I again was on call this day and found my self fast asleep when the clock turned 12:00.

I am looking forward to 2013 and what it may bring to our little family!! I am Getting better and better everyday in my new carrer and loving what I get to do EVERYDAY! I am offically a Sonographer I have now taken the physics exam and the Abdomen exam. Once taken at least two exam's, and passes you are considered OFFICALL. Next I will need to start studying for two more exams which will be the OBGYN and the Neuro exams!! I have set a goal to take both of these by June!! So I better get started!

Hope everyone is doing well
Well TTFN!

Road Trip

Ben and I were so lucky we were able to take some time off together and enjoy each other's company. Since being done with school and NOTHING to do right!! (only kidding we have plenty to do) But to celbrate me finishing up with school, we both felt that we needed a little time to just relax get away from Boise, and just be with each other. So we decided to take a road trip to southern Utah to Zion National Park in Springdale, UT. We both took 8 days off and hit the road on November 12th. It took 8 hours to get there. We stayed in Springdale for 3 nights at the Driftwood Lodge! This place has some pretty amazing views and rock formations. Lots of hiking trails and some pretty scary drop offs!

I had lots of fun enjoying the company of my husband. As you all know, for the last three years while going through school we felt we hardley even got to see each other! There were lots of fun places to eat, and some great hiking trails! We wish we could have brought our doggie along, as he would have loved the hikes and water. But we found out that doggies were not allowed in the National park. So I guess its best that he stayed home with his uncle Marc.

On our way home we had a long drive as we had a few extra days before we had to go back to work and real life. So why not just keep driving to McCall? So that day we spent 12 hours in the car driving. But as always McCall was fun and Ben helped his dad finish up a car port that he had started building.

Any way here are some of my favorite photos from our vacation!

Boise Temple Open House

The Boise temple has been closed for almost a year, for extensive remodling. I am so excited that it is about to re-open again! Ben's family and I all had the oportunity to walk throught the NEW Boise temple just a few days ago. They did such a wonderful job on all the upgrades. It was beautiful before but it is even more beautiful today. Inside they updated everything. There is dark wood finshings all around. All of the floors are so shiny and bright. They replaced the gray and white marble on the outside of the temple with white granite from China. It looks very updated and modern. Words can not justfy how amazing it is. Any way it looks spectacular. I encourage all of you to walk through the Temple during the open house. The open house is now until November 10th. Anyone can walk through the temple and see all the rooms, before it is dedicated again.

I learned a thing or two about our temple here in Boise. It was first built in 1984, and dedicated at the time by Gorden B. Hinckley in May. Since I was not even born yet during this time. My two older sisters remember walking through the first open house that was held during that time. They have talked about those things they could remember at such a very young age. They remembered putting on the booties to cover their shoes, so that the carpet would stay clean.

The Boise Temple is currently the 27th operating temple out of 139 temples total. There are also 15 temples under construction right now, and 14 more temples to be built including the Meridian Idaho temple. This brings the grand total of temples all around the world to 168. The Boise temple was the second Temple to open in Idaho after the Idaho Falls temple. I think it is amazing that I belong to a church that is all over the world. It is a true testiment of how true our church is.

The Temple will be redicated November 18th, and will re-open Tuesday November 20th for ordinance work. I am very excited for the temple to be functional again. Can't wait to go back.

Here are a few photos of the evening.

Any untill next time TTFN!!

McCall Idaho

Both Ben and I were able to escape from the real world for a few days and spend some time in McCall, Idaho. It was very much needed! After finishing up with school, starting a new job and to have just passed my Ultrasound physics test. We were all just needing a little break from it all.

Ben's parents were able to score a sweet deal on a cabin in McCall last year in November. So we have been trying to escape to McCall just as often as we can. With my old job at IMI I always had to work the weekends. With my new job I get every weekend off, that is if I am not on call, which isn't very often either just about once a month!

Ben spent alot of the time getting stuff ready for the winter by gathering up fire wood. I've never seen my husband cut down a tree before. It was pretty exciting watching a big tree fall from the sky down to earth. He has had lots of practice cutting down trees by working at the golf course. As tress fall down there everytime there is a big windstorm. He is quite the handy man, he can pretty much do anything!!

While Ben was out cutting up wood, I had a relaxing time inside!

Here are a few photos of the beautiful cabin, and the wonderfull week that we had. As always its always hard to capture a good photo when Ben is actually smiling! as he hates pictures so he usually runs when the camera comes out!

Any way TTFN injoy some pics!

Holy moly what happend to this blog!

WOW ok, I have really been slacking. Its been over a year since I have updated this thing!! How terrible. Well alot of things have happend over the passed year. We bought a new vehicle in May. Which we needed desperatley. We ended up getting a 4 door F150 White ford truck (its a Lariat). Which I get to drive!! I love it! It is a great vehicle! Ben likes it cuz he gets to do the things he wants with it! Like hauling his ATV'S around and such! And I like it cuz it will be a good family car once we start a family! (Should be very soon!) I absolutly love the enterior of the car, it has black leather seats, and lots of leg room in the back seat. My favorite feature of the truck is the heated and AC seats!! Yep it has cheek chillers and cheek warmars!! I love it.

What else happend hmm. I FINALLY finished up with school! I finished with my Bachelors degree in Radiography with an emphasis in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Which means I am an Ultrasound tech. Well almost not quite but I am eligible to sit for my registries to become one!! To be an offical Sonographer I have to take Ultrasound physics and one other exam. I have one down and what a relief that has been to have PASSED Ultrasound physics. It was a difficult one and hopefully the next registries to come will get easier and easier! I would like to thank EVERYONE for their help and support while getting ready for that exam, you all know how hard I can get on myself when it comes to taking tests. So thanks for all your words of encouragement and study materials. I would not have been able to do it with out ya!!

It has been pretty exciting to be all done with school!! After all those long days in clinic, work and never really getting to catch up with my hubby. It's finally all over!! I am really enjoying my new time that I have with my hubby. Its like I have almost started a new relationship with him and as always what a GREAT husband I married. I am figuring out I can have a real life instead of school and work overtaking it.

I started a NEW job!! I am totally loving it!! I now work at the St. Alphonsus in Nampa as a Sonographer. I am learning new things everyday, gaining confidence in myself while scanning, and getting faster and faster everyday. I didn't want to lose my X-Ray skills that I learned so I still hold a PRN position with Intermountain Medical Imaging. So I can pick up an x-ray shift when I want and make a few extra bucks!!

Lets see what else.... Ben had his 31st birthday on Sept 19th. I was able to meet him for lunch on his birthday and take him out to his favorite pizza joint! We celebrated our 7 year weeding anniversary on Sept. 23. Wow it has been 7 years, really it feels like we just got married. How wonderful my husband is!! He is such a hard worker and has done a lot these past years.

We have been doing some updating to our little humble abode. We finally ripped out our groose old carpet that has been in our house for WAY to long. We got some new carpet installed in our upstairs bedrooms, hallway and stairs. Ben worked really hard to get all new basboards put in. It looks awesome! As I said before he is so AWSOME!

Well thats good for now! I am sure there were things I missed but you are probably tired of reading all this stuff any way!! Pictures to fallow soon! you know of our NEW truck, Carpet and baseboards, my Diploma and other things I can find to post. I need to start doing better at taking pictures too so that I have stuff to blog about!!

Any way TTFN!

My Little Brother Got Hitched Too!

My little brother found the girl of his dreams and they were married for time and all eternity in the Twin Falls Temple on August 5th 2011. They are a very cute couple and everyone can tell they are two little love birds!! Congratulations Kurt and Janaye I wish you the best of luck, and I am very happy for the both of you.

The above picture are two happy parents of the groom!!

In the above and below pictures the little girl is Janaye's little sister she needed hugs from both her sister the beautiful bride that she is and of course from the handsome groom!!

Ben and Marshall hanging out before the bride and groom made there grand exit from the temple doors!!

I have to apologize for the quality of the images that were taken at the reception. I had accidental sent the camera home with my husband. So all I had to take pictures with was my cell phone. But they are not too bad to say the least!!

Here we have the amazing wedding cake that my mother and I worked so hard on. Really I didn't do much, she did most of it!! She is amazing when it comes to wedding cakes. She knows how to make a picture perfect wedding cake. One picture was taken while all the lights were off during the reception, the other was taken with the lights on so that one can appreciate how the color stands out in the light!

Good luck to both of you!! You two are a beautiful couple and welcome to the family Janaye!! Have fun!!
