Our little guy decided he stayed long enough in mommy's belly and he wanted out to meet his mommy and daddy. I wasn't due until 8-12-13, but he wanted his birthday to be 7-27-13. Just a little over 2 weeks early! He topped the scales weighing in at just 5 lbs 14 oz. and just under 18 inches long, he was born at 9:02 p.m.
Williams birth story is a little wild so here it is.
As you all know this was my first pregnancy, and it went with out any complications, other than the nausea, hogging the bed at night with all my pillows, fat, swollen feet near the end, oh and we must not forget about the constipation issue.
Alright so I was always concerned that I would not be able to tell when I was in labor, or questioned wither or not I would know that I was having contractions. Everyone that I ever talked to said that I would know when I would start. Well little did everyone know I had no idea what was going on when I had actually begun laboring.
Saturday 7-27-13, I had just gotten off the phone talking with my sister Janae, about what items would be good to pack and take with us to the hospital when we actually went to have the baby, I think we also talked some about what contractions would feel like and again asked if I would know! I got off the phone with her just after 4:00 p.m. and felt some fluid leaking from down yonder, it was not a lot of fluid in fact it felt like I had peeed my pants, but I had never done that before. So I ignored that feeling, and went outside to water my orchard, and then it happened again, and then I started to wonder what is going on. I then came back inside took a shower and again more trickles of fluid.
Mind you I am home alone when this all started, as my husband had to make a quick trip to McCall, when he had left that he told me not to have a baby today, and that he would probably be home around 5:30. I get out of the shower and place a towel on the floor in case more fluid were to come, as I am getting dressed and coming out my hair. Ben finally calls and says he is on his way home, however this was about 5:30 and he was just leaving McCall which is about an hour and a half away from our new home in Horseshoe Bend. I must have had a concerned voice over the phone as I said you are just know leaving McCall. Ben said yes why whats going on, I told him that I started leaking fluid and that I was not sure what was happening, I had not yet started contractions or any pain yet. I decided it was probably time to contact the Dr. and let them know what was happening and what I should do, because it was the weekend there was the on call physician so I had to wait for her to call me back, She called just before 6:00 and told me that I should probably head on into the hospital. So here I am all alone in Horsehoe Bend with a 30-40 minute drive to the hospital. I decided it probably was not a good idea to drive my self to the hospital, with Ben only being an hour and a half a way I decided I would probably have plenty of time as with first pregnancy labors they say can take anywhere from 8-14 hours. Since I had only had a few contractions at this point I figured I could wait until Ben arrived home.
None of our bags were packed so I was running around getting everything I thought we would need and since I had just made a list of things with my sister over the phone I had a pretty good idea what to grab. I grabbed lots of stuff and everything for Ben including his contact case and solution, the lab top and clothes for him the only thing I forgot was clean undies for him to change into. Alright so with all the bags packed and waiting for Bens arrival. The contractions were starting to come more often. I started keeping track of contractions and writing down what time they would start and for how long the contraction was lasting for. All of my contractions were in my lower back and quite honestly did not hurt all the bad. I kept track of contractions for a good hour and they were getting more closer together and lasting a little bit longer.
Finally Ben made it home just past 7:00 p.m. he had the trailer and four wheelers that were hooked up to the truck with other things that needed to be unloaded from the truck. He came inside and asked if we were going to have a baby today, I sill wasn't completely sure that we would be having a baby, my due date was still 2 weeks away. Ben asked if he could take a shower and I told him that he better hurry because we still had a little bit of a drive with horseshoe bend hill and all. He was finally ready and we were off to the hospital!
I think the drive made my contractions a little worse, contractions were still all in my back and they were for sure getting stronger and closer together. It was pretty funny in between each contraction i was able to hold a conversation and be normal but as soon as a contraction would come I could not say a thing but to concentrate on getting through the contraction.
They finally got a hold of the other doctor I think her name is Dr. Bradford, she arrived just in time for me to push about 4 times and the little baby William came into this world.
What an amazing experience, to have given birth to this beautiful baby boy and what a blessing it was that my labor really only lasted about 4 1/2 hours. Thank goodness we made it to the hospital just in time. I am very thankful for my husband for what a wonerful man he is.
here are some adorable pictures for your veiweing! William looks exactley like his dad! Well for now he does it will be interesting watching this little man grow and to see his little personality develop.
This was my last belly bumb photo that I took at 36 weeks and 4 days
